Coastal Compensation Model
The Coastal Investment Company’s compensation structure provides investors a fully transparent view of our fees for the management of the Funds. This strategy ensures that our organization will only be compensated from actual realized returns generated by our projects and paid from distributions that are received by the projects we participate in.
Our carried interest model ensures that CIC will not receive compensation for services until the client has received a return of their original capital. Our company puts years of management in before we collect any proceeds from the sale of an asset through our carried interest model.

QSBS - Ability to Exclude U.S. Capital Gains from Tax on Exit
We are introducing a new fund that invests in qualified small businesses (“QSBs”), which provide investors with the ability to exclude from U.S. tax, the greater of $10 million or ten times the amount invested, per QSB (“QSBS Tax Benefits”). To qualify, the investor must hold the stock for at least 5 years, and the company must satisfy a number of requirements (as discussed below).
The qualified small business stock (“QSBS”) program (also known as “Section 1202” of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code) has been around since the early 1990’s, and was made more favorable during President Obama’s term. The QSBS program was designed to encourage entrepreneurs to take risks in new small business ventures, by providing them with favorable tax incentives on exit. As most QSBs are early-stage, start-up companies, there is typically more entrepreneurial risk for these types of investments, along with the opportunity for greater returns.

Sean moved to Coastal from the largest independent brokerage in the Country, Compass a Fortune 500 company, where he was the Regional Vice President of the Florida region. Sean’s experience has led him to oversee more than $15 Billion in commercial and residential sales volume transactions throughout his career.
Sean is responsible for introducing Coastals’ real estate private equity fund offerings to their investors and managing operations of the business alongside the C-suite team. Sean works with the board of directors to offer strategic direction, provide advice on utilization of company resources, communicate company and fund updates to investors and source new real estate syndication opportunities.
